In this article I will teach people how to install phpMyAdmin 2 on CentOS.

I. Install phpMyAdmin package

Before you proceed to install phpMyAdmin you need to install before LAMP or LEMP server on CentOS.

1. Add EPEL repo

phpMyAdmin is not available in the default repo of CentOS. Therefore, if you should want to install, you need to use Fedora Projects EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) repo.

wget http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

Install

rpm -ivh epel-release*

Check back repo by

yum repolist

. . .
repo id         repo name                                       status
base            CentOS-6 - Base                                 6381
epel            Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 6 - x86_64  9788
extras          CentOS-6 - Extras                                 13

repolist: 17518

You will see  EPEL, it have in the list repo.

Now you delete the repo file previously downloaded
